State of IL v. “MN”: MN was driving his car with his fiancé KM in the passenger’s seat. They began to argue and KM began to punch MN in the face and grabbed the steering wheel to cause a crash. MN grabbed his fiancé by the hair to prevent her from attacking him. KM then tried jumping out of the moving vehicle when MN pulled her back into the car. She then kicked the front windshield until it cracked. When the police arrived, MN was immediately arrested for domestic battery and interfering with a report of domestic battery for grabbing KM’s phone. At trial – Attorney Matt Fakhoury successfully asserted self-defense and provided evidence that KM was arrested, charged and found guilty for similar behavior in Wisconsin a few years prior. MN was found NOT GUILTY!
